Can we talk about how cool fire is plz?

The first one is just a bunch of “boom” and the second one is so detailed that none of the friends got scorched…

can we talk about how Roy gives no fucks when he’s angry

Ah yeah! Can we talk about that too plz?

Hell yes we can. It’s so great because we see how controlled he is, protecting those he loves in order to wipe out the enemy, and then we see him TWENTY MINUTES LATER completely losing his shit with only the intention to destroy and take revenge. This is why Riza stops him. The man in the first gif cannot lead a country. The man in the second gif is focused, controlled, only killing in order to help others. The man in the first gif is consumed, and I love that his fire so often reflects how he is feeling.

Roy gives less than no fucks when he’s angry. He’s has that crap bottled up for so long he gave his fucks to goodwill.

But, I do think that angry Roy could lead a country. That anger was SO precise and directed at the cause of his anger, yet deep inside he won’t lose it absolutely. If he was that far gone, Ed would have been at least scorched, Scar would have been literal toast, and Envy would have become a new belt and a new pair of shoes, with no hesitation.

But this is also the most powerfull kind of alchemy in FMA. No other alchemist comes even close to the destructive power of Roy’s flame alchemy. Only father in his final form was stronger. BUT ONLY BECAUE HE HAD LIKE 500000 SOULS AND A GOD INSIDE HIMSELF

But it’s the first time (second if you count Lust) you actually SEE that it’s the strongest alchemy. In the rest of the series his flame kinda works like an average cigarette lighter.

That’s why the alchemy is so dangerous. Why Riza begs Roy to burn her back. Because the only person she trusts with this is Roy, and that’s why he gives her the right to shoot him and end flame alchemy for good if he goes off the path. This is sheer power and only someone who can handle it can wield it. Which is why I stand by my earlier statement that angry Roy could not lead a country. That’s why Riza HAD to step in. She wouldn’t have if she didn’t see this hurting him. His vengeance was consuming him, and the ONLY reason that he didn’t completely lose it is because of Riza keeping him in the right direction. If she hadn’t been there, it would have been all over because this is a power that can consume. She keeps him level. Hell, if anything, Riza is the goddamn alchemist and Roy is the flame. I mean that’s oversimplifying it to an extreme degree, but to create the change that Roy wanted for Amestris, he could not use this power to serve his own vengeance. He would never be able to face the people if he did. He would be no better than Wrath if he allowed this to overtake him.

I love everything about this post and only have one thing to add –

In the second gif, his fire doesn’t only destroy the immortal army, but it also protects his friends inside circles of flames. He isn’t all destruction; fire can also be warmth and protection, even if it’s not like that in the first gif but only when he shields his friends from danger.

That is all.
